ABOUT
I grew up in northwest Indiana about 30 minutes south of Chicago along the shore of Lake Michigan. It's primarily a blue-collar area with a heavy reliance on the production of steel. My father was a steelworker and he taught me by example the most important life lesson: work hard and be proud of your work.
Early in my career, I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to work for Don Norman doing user research and usability testing at an eLearning startup. The company was acquired, which forced me to find a new job unexpectedly. What looked like a bad deal, however, turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
In my next role at Morningstar, I was given the responsibility of building a Quality Assurance team in addition to managing the Design team. While uncomfortable at first, this forced me to learn more about how software was really built - which provided a whole new perspective and made me a much better designer.
In 2012 was asked to be Design Partner at DeveloperTown and build a Design practice from scratch to compliment the development team. Fast forward ten years that team has become a high-performing, integral part of the the business. So importatnt that a place called "DeveloperTown" is known as much for its design chops as it is for development.
However, life occasionally challenges us to tackle bigger and better things. So in 2021, I decided to move on and join Insight as a National UX Architect to tackle some of the most complex problems and help breed disruption for some of the largest organizations in the world. Combining cutting-edge technology, creative thinking and the power of scale to deliver radical business transformation.
